Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems supporting mission-focused environments. The role emphasizes backend development, data engineering, and API delivery using Python and FastAPI, with PostgreSQL database design and high-performance integrations across data-sensitive systems.

You will work on eliminating bottlenecks, optimizing data flows, and ensuring robust software components across the stack in an on-site,

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
• Demonstrated backend development experience.
• Experience in data engineering and API development.
• Experience building scalable systems with Python and FastAPI.
• Experience designing and managing PostgreSQL databases with efficient SQL and indexing strategies.
• Proficiency in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
• Experience building high-performance API connections between high-speed, high-volume, mission-critical, data-sensitive systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems and analytics pipelines.
• Provide input to software component design, including trade-offs and requirements synthesis.
• Design, implement, and integrate software applications and perform software engineering tasks.
• Apply software engineering methodologies appropriate to development and production environments.
• Ensure efficient delivery of software capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes.
• Mitigate risks, control costs and schedule variance across large-scale software projects.
• Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document results.
