Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team onsite at Quantico, VA. You will support the full agile development life cycle and collaborate across planning, design, testing, deployment and maintenance phases to deliver robust backend systems.

You will design data structures, optimize queries and pipelines, and ensure security and reliability of databases, ETL processes, and production environments. A Top Secret clearance is required for this position.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field; 8 years exp.
• Masters degree adds 2 years of exp; PhD adds 4 years.
• Top Secret clearance required for role.

Senior Backend Engineer

Job Description:

Support the entire agile development life cycle from planning, design, testing, demonstration, deploy, and maintenance.

Support troubleshooting bugs and continuously refine existing software and tools to implement additional features or improve performance.

Ensure operations and enhance existing databases, in addition to design new collections, design data structures, craft optimized queries/ pipelines, and manage database/ server storage.

Maintain back end development, staging, production, etc. environments.

Design and develop all server-side services, plugins, components, applicable API, and monitoring/ alarm/ audit components.

Responsible for all data ETL processing, report features, scheduled maintenance and enrichment services, data retention, database performance, code quality and maintainability, version control, and compilation and release processes for the back- end.

Job Requirements:

Technical experience as a back-end developer working on complex applications and/ or IT systems.

Experience eliciting business and user requirements, translating those requirements into design specifications, deploying production ready solutions/ features, maintain back- end development and production environments, and ensure UI and API optimization.

Experience with modern development languages, tools, frameworks, and functional database management.

Experience with Java and JavaScript languages, and no SQL databases, Linux operating systems and Docker, Podman, Ansible, GIT tools.

Senior or SME levels must have recent leadership experience

Education:

BS degree in Computer Science or related field + 8 Years Experience.

Masters degree qualifies as 2 years of experience, Ph. Degree qualifies as 4 years experience
