Job summary

System One is seeking a Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer with TS/SCI clearance for on-site work in Gaithersburg, MD. The contract-to-hire role demands 40 hours weekly, strong Java or Python OO development, RESTful services, and Linux experience.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's or Master’s in CS or related field, citizenship, and the ability to pass a polygraph. Collaborative, battle-tested backend delivery is expected.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to pass a Polygraph.
• Experience developing object-oriented applications in Java or Python.
• Hands-on RESTful API development experience.
• SQL and Linux experience for data handling and deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend components in Java or Python.
• Develop and maintain RESTful services to support app functionality.
• Apply OO design to build scalable, maintainable systems.
• Write and modify SQL queries for data retrieval.
• Collaborate across teams to integrate data sources and back-end systems.
• Develop and troubleshoot applications in Linux environments.
• Implement backend data transformation and workflow logic.
• Identify, debug, resolve defects and performance issues.
• Follow coding standards, participate in code reviews, and document.
