Intuit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to join the QuickBooks Capital & Lending platform in Cleveland. You will architect and build enterprise-scale SaaS backend services using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, AWS, and modern dev practices.

The role involves 40–60% hands-on coding with emphasis on system design, reliability, and mentoring engineers. Strong collaboration with product, QA, and business units is required, along with Agile practices and a passion for scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing and developing online SaaS backend applications.
• BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience.
• Expertise with Java/J2EE, SQL, AWS and backend development; REST/SOAP proficiency.
• Strong SDLC knowledge and testing approaches (TDD).
• Proven leadership: meetings, cross-functional collaboration, mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop online SaaS backend applications and prototypes.
• Lead requirements gathering, technical specs, and project/test planning.
• Mentor engineers and lead a small team on design problems.
• Balance 40–60% hands-on coding with system design and operations focus.
• Create architecture docs and presentations for teams and stakeholders.
• Resolve defects across QA, pre-production, production, and post-release patches.
• Collaborate with product management, QA/QE, and other business units to drive results.
• Champion well-architected, scalable web/back-end systems and Agile practices.
