Job summary

Globus Automate at the University of Chicago is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver scalable Python backend services for our data management platform. You will work on REST interfaces, APIs, and data processing pipelines in a hybrid Chicago, IL environment, contributing to high-availability systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, participate in architecture reviews, and help advance cloud-native SaaS/PaaS capabilities using

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of software engineering experience in related field.
• Strong Python software development and debugging skills.
• Experience building scalable SaaS/PaaS services.
• Proficiency with RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Experience with cloud platforms, AWS in particular.

Responsibilities

• Architecture and design of secure, scalable backend services and data access layers.
• Develop, test, document, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services with high availability.
• Lead code/design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with support, sales, and product teams to deliver features.
• Operate services on AWS with OpenAPI-based interfaces and CI/CD pipelines.
