Job summary

Clearwater Analytics is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join our Chicago office. You will develop scalable backend services in a modern stack, participate in Agile ceremonies, and help shape product roadmaps. You will mentor junior engineers and lead design decisions across domains.

The role emphasizes building reliable, high-availability systems using Java/Python, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP). Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with object-oriented or functional languages.
• Experience with SDLC and Agile practices.
• Experience with machine learning and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, SQS/SNS, or Cloud Pub/Sub.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software used by large technology firms and financial firms.
• Participate in Agile meetings and contribute to product roadmaps.
• Own critical, highly available and scalable backend processes.
• Mentor entry-level developers and contribute to design decisions.
• Lead technical breakdown of deliverables into features and stories.
• Write and review unit tests; ensure testability and maintainability.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and address issues with empathy.
