Job summary

FOX is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to lead delivery of reliable, scalable services for audio/video hosting, monetization, and analytics across a global footprint. You will primarily code in Python, build RESTful APIs, and own asynchronous workflows, tracing, and IaC with AWS/GCP.

Expect cross-team collaboration with product, frontend, and infrastructure engineers in a fast-moving media tech environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience with ownership of large services or platforms.
• Strong Python and service-oriented design experience including APIs and background jobs.
• Hands-on Celery and message broker expertise (AMQP/RabbitMQ) with operational debugging.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of RESTful APIs and async workers for publishing, media processing, SSAI and VAST workflows.
• Own reliability and performance of distributed systems including queue design, deduplication, and logging for incident response.
• Drive data and integration decisions across PostgreSQL, Redis coordination, and data warehouse reporting.
• Lead Terraform/AWS changes affecting the app: EB tiers, IAM, networking, WAF and observability hooks.
• Raise the bar on observability with structured logging, Prometheus-style metrics, Grafana and CloudWatch.
