Job summary

Wintermeyer Ventures seeks an experienced backend engineer to design and operate high-volume data pipelines for AI training. You will own systems end-to-end, implement safe recovery from failures, and build internal tools to monitor data quality.

Work with ML, platform, and security teams on new data types while keeping pipelines auditable and scalable. On-site in New York, Visa sponsorship available.

Qualifications

• 3 to 10 years of software engineering experience with ownership of production backend systems.
• Experience building and operating high-volume data processing systems that transform data.
• Strong distributed and asynchronous systems fundamentals: queues, workers, retries, and recovery.
• Backend depth in Python, Go, Rust, or Java.
• Experience with AWS and batch/workflow orchestration (Airflow, AWS Batch, SQS, S3, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL).
• STEM undergraduate degree and proven ownership and progression in early-stage or high-growth startups.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale multi-stage pipelines that de-identify enterprise data.
• Own backend systems from design to delivery, debugging, and recovery.
• Implement safe retries, checkpoints, backfills, and rollbacks for asynchronous workflows.
• Create internal tools and dashboards to monitor pipelines and data quality.
• Collaborate with ML, full-stack, platform, and security teams to support new data types.
