Job summary

Optery, a fully remote team backed by founders in the San Francisco Bay Area, seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to shape product and technical direction. You’ll own features end-to-end in a Django/Python stack, collaborating across time zones and with external services.

You’ll work on APIs powering the consumer dashboard and B2B platform, handle production readiness, and contribute to performance, reliability, and integrations with Stripe and identity providers. Remote LATAM candidates welcome.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production web applications.
• 3+ years with Python and Django.
• CS fundamentals: data structures, concurrency, SQL, system design.
• Strong written communication; comfortable working async across time zones.
• Self-direction and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend features in Django powering consumer dashboard and customer reporting.
• Maintain and improve Celery and RabbitMQ pipelines for reliability.
• Integrate with Stripe and identity providers and other third-party services.
• Conduct code reviews and collaborate with a small backend team.
• Own features end-to-end from conception to production.
