Hungryroot is hiring a Senior Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. This role focuses on backend design, RESTful APIs, and critical features that power our grocery and wellness platform.

You will drive technical decisions, implement, test, and maintain important backend systems, and mentor less experienced developers. The position supports a remote-first environment with collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
• 3+ years using Python as primary language.
• 3+ years designing and extending RESTful APIs.
• 3+ years with Django/Flask/Rails web framework.
• 2+ years relational SQL experience.
• 2+ years troubleshooting production issues.

Responsibilities

• Own core aspects of engineering infrastructure and how services are connected.
• Lead technical discussions and help optimize solutions under constraints.
• Collaborate with engineering leads on planning large projects.
• Contribute to important feature development, maintenance, and quality.
• Improve code quality through reviews, testing, and refactoring.
• Participate in interviewing senior to junior engineers.
