Job summary

Mapbox is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Navigation Traffic team. You will balance rapid development of navigation solutions with reliability as services scale across markets and use cases, deploying microservices and maintaining performance.

You will collaborate cross-functionally, write robust code, and help design systems that support growing customer demand, all within Mapbox’s culture of collaboration and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building scalable high-volume low-latency backend services.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, and AWS stack (CDK/ECS/Step Functions/Lambda/S3).
• Familiar with code versioning tools, such as GitHub.
• Able to work independently on designs and specs.
• Self-starter with strong communication and outcomes-oriented mindset.
• Empirical analytical approach and ability to learn quickly.
