Job summary

HealthLeap, a SF-based healthcare AI startup, seeks a senior backend engineer to own hospital data connections and real-time pipelines. You’ll design, build, and scale production services that connect disparate systems and deliver reliable data for risk scoring and clinical insights.

You’ll work directly with hospital IT and clinical teams, own the integrations, and push for speedy, robust fixes. The stack is Python and TypeScript, and you’ll ship software that directly impacts patient care.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production systems.
• Experience integrating disparate systems (HL7, FHIR) or similar healthcare data integrations.
• Customer-facing: able to scope needs on calls with hospital IT/clinical teams.
• Ability to debug quickly from code, logs, and data.
• Create tools to reduce busywork.
• Strong SQL and data correctness.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the data pipelines that pull patient data from each hospital and keep it flowing in real time.
• Scale the infrastructure so 8x the hospitals doesn’t mean 8x the fires: monitoring, alerting, reliability.
• Stand up new integrations with the record systems hospitals run on, and deepen existing ones.
• Turn getting a hospital live into software, so the next one is faster than the last rather than a fresh project every time.
• Build internal tooling and a portal hospitals log into to self-test their data, keeping integrations easy to watch and quick to fix.
• When a number looks wrong, diagnose the cause from hospital systems to clinician interfaces and fix it.
