Job summary

b.well is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer for the Data Interoperability Team to drive real-time health data exchange across EHRs, wearables, and patient portals. Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on healthcare interoperability and health IT.
• 5+ years with FHIR standards (FHIR R4 required).
• 3+ years in technical leadership managing interoperability or data engineering teams.
• Proven track record leading real-time health data exchange for 100K+ patients.
• Experience integrating with 5+ EMR platforms.
• Experience with Patient Access APIs and Bulk FHIR APIs per CMS rules.
• Expert knowledge of HL7 FHIR R4 and US Core/USCDI.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of real-time health data interoperability solutions for millions of records.
• Architect and oversee Patient Access APIs and Bulk FHIR APIs across networks.
• Set technical strategy for FHIR adoption across integration points.
• Design scalable data pipelines ingesting data from EMRs, wearables, IoT, and remote monitoring.
• Establish standards and patterns for interoperability solutions.
• Lead evaluation of platforms, tools, and vendors.
• Build and maintain real-time pipeline infrastructure with Python, Spark, Prefect, Kubernetes.
• Mentor data engineers and safeguard data with security and privacy policies.
• Collaborate with product, clinical, engineering, and business teams.
