Job summary

Alloy is seeking a backend engineer to own core components of our decisioning system, building scalable services that power real-time risk checks for onboarding and ongoing customer risk evaluation. You will shape AI-enabled features and collaborate with stakeholders to translate ambiguous requests into robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend ownership
• Hands-on experience writing and optimizing SQL and reasoning about query plans
• Production experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Ability to gather requirements from ambiguous asks and decide what to build
• Track record of talking with internal stakeholders or customers to clarify scope

Responsibilities

• Design and ship performant Postgres queries and Node.js APIs for the decision engine
• Own end-to-end systems for client-maintained lists to flag, block, or approve as they scale
• Build and extend AI features explaining flags and recommending actions
• Communicate with stakeholders and customers to scope features
• Collaborate on system design decisions as services expand to enterprise-scale rollouts
