Job summary

HTC Global Services is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and operate high-throughput backend systems ingesting telematics data from connected vehicle fleets. You will work across distributed systems, data engineering, and API development to deliver reliable, low-latency services for enterprise customers.

The role emphasizes real-time and batch data pipelines, cloud deployments on GCP, and secure, scalable REST/GraphQL APIs with cost-conscious operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 7+ years IT experience and 5+ years software development experience.
• 3+ years of expert-level GCP experience designing and managing cloud workloads.
• 3+ years of expert-level Big Data experience with large-scale datasets.
• 3+ years of API development experience (REST/GraphQL).
• 2+ years of BigQuery with SQL optimization and dataset management.
• 1+ year building ML models or rule-based systems.
• Experience with JVM languages (Kotlin/Java/Python) and backend frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs processing telematics data.
• Build real-time and batch data pipelines ingesting vehicle event streams.
• Deploy and manage workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Ensure security and cost optimization in cloud environments.
• Develop data pipelines and storage architectures for high-volume datasets.
• Work with Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Dataflow for data lake/warehouse patterns.
• Build, train, and deploy ML models or rule-based systems to support decisions.
• Implement RESTful/GraphQL APIs with authentication, versioning, and rate limiting.
• Write optimized SQL in BigQuery and integrate with BI tools.
