Scribe, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Core Engineering Team in San Francisco. You’ll own backend features in a Django/Python stack, optimize critical workflows, and collaborate across product, design, and frontend teams.

You’ll drive performance, reliability, and testing practices, while shaping scalable systems that power millions of users and key integrations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building backend applications at high scale and availability.
• Extensive experience with Python.
• Knowledge of optimizing endpoint performance and database queries.
• Strong advocate for automated testing.
• Experience implementing engineering best practices.
• User-centric, empathetic approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend features in Django monolith across core document workflows and new greenfield projects.
• Improve performance and reliability by optimizing queries, endpoints, and caching layers.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver reliable experiences at scale.
• Contribute to technical discussions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term architecture.
• Uphold strong engineering practices through code reviews, testing, and observability.
