Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and build core backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines. You will work with the CTO and engineering teams on AI-driven features and scalable architecture.

Role requires remote work with frequent trips to London (at least one week per month) and a compensation package of $100,000–$170,000 plus equity. Collaboration with product, curators, and frontend/mobile teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong Python and Django experience.
• Deep knowledge of Django, DRF, and performance tuning.
• Experience with SQL, schema design, and performance.
• Experience with cloud native systems on GCP.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and APIs using Python and Django.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production rollout.
• Maintain background processing, agent orchestration, and LLM integrations.
• Operate and improve GCP infrastructure and optimize performance.
• Review code and raise the technical bar with cross-team collaboration.
