Job summary

Udio is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build the systems powering our product experience. You’ll own backend infrastructure that serves content, handles real-time interactions, and ensures platform reliability at scale.

You’ll collaborate with Product, ML Research, and Mobile/Web teams, using Python, Go, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and a microservices approach to deliver robust data services and APIs for content discovery and safety checks.

Qualifications

• Experience building production backend services and APIs at scale.
• Strong background in data modeling, metadata systems, indexing, or canonical representations.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, SQL, and scalable data-processing frameworks (Dataflow/Beam, Spark, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain application-level data models that organize content for features, search, and retrieval.
• Build high-reliability ETLs and streaming pipelines to process usage events, analytics data, and logs.
• Develop data services exposing unified content via APIs, indexing workflows, and representations.
• Implement fingerprinting pipelines for deduplication, safety checks, and provenance validation.
• Own data consistency between ingestion systems, surfaces, and downstream reporting.
• Define and track operational metrics including latency, completeness, and event health.
• Collaborate with Product teams to support evolving features and high-quality user experiences.
• Partner with Analytics and Research teams to deliver data for experimentation and insights.
• Operate large analytic workloads in BigQuery and reusable Dataflow/Beam components.
• Improve reliability and scale with schema evolution, idempotent pipelines, and instrumentation.
