This role emphasizes database design, query performance, and building scalable infrastructure for a multi-platform product. You will design schemas, optimize queries, and shape API contracts for the Next.js/React Native stack, while advancing AI-assisted capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering with Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
• Strong PostgreSQL expertise with schema design, indexing, and migrations.
• Solid AWS experience (Lambda, RDS, App Runner) with Terraform familiarity.
• Designing, versioning, and documenting REST APIs for multiple clients.
• Containerized development with Docker.
• Startup mindset and ability to work independently in ambiguity.
• Strong testing, code review, and pragmatic architecture.
• Excellent written communication for asynchronous collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design schemas, indexes, and queries for high-write scheduling workloads.
• Build and harden AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
• Develop backend services in Python/FastAPI.
• Own REST/OpenAPI contracts and clients across web/mobile apps.
• Extend AI-assisted features with Bedrock/Claude MCP.
• Collaborate with data/ML on forecasting pipelines.
• Write and maintain pytest tests; strengthen CI/CD.
• Mentor engineers and participate in architecture decisions.
• Partner with product and data teams to ship features from rough specs.
