Job summary

Spotify's Personalization and Home Podcasts squads build backend systems that power podcast recommendations for millions of listeners. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, implement, and operate services that identify, rank, and deliver relevant content at scale.

You'll collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Designers to create new experiences and define experimentation strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience building production systems with Java.
• Design of distributed, high-volume services.
• Experience iterating with stakeholders to define API design.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Interest in large-scale data processing for personalized experiences.
• Comfort with fast, experiment-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and evolve backend systems for personalization at scale.
• Develop infrastructure to retrieve, rank, and deliver recommendations.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, and Designers.
• Own backend services through design, deployment, and monitoring.
