Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Backend Software Engineer for its Payments & Partnerships team in Waltham, MA. You will own end-to-end features, build scalable services, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver critical solutions.

The role targets 6+ years of backend experience with Java/Kotlin or comparable languages, strong SQL, and a passion for quality software in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong programming experience with Java, Kotlin, or comparable languages such as Python or .NET.
• Deep understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Experience with relational databases and strong SQL.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and production-quality delivery.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to changing business needs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers, frontend engineers, and stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services within Payments & Partnerships.
• Take ownership of features from requirements through deployment and support.
• Write clean, scalable, well-tested code with maintainability in mind.
• Collaborate to iterate on new functionality and product enhancements.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and platform improvements.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve efficiency and experimentation.
• Support CI/CD processes to deliver software reliably and frequently.
