Job summary

Mural Group is hiring a senior backend engineer to join a fast-growing, venture-backed software and payments company in New York. You will help build payroll, bill pay and banking features from scratch, laying down the standards for robustness, idempotency and reconciliation.

The role requires 5+ years of backend experience (ideally TypeScript/Node), deep PostgreSQL knowledge, and a strong focus on precise financial handling. Onsite NYC work with equity participation is offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production backend systems.
• Experience with TypeScript or Node.js.
• Strong understanding of transaction guarantees: idempotency, retries, atomicity.
• Deep PostgreSQL and precision in reconciliation and rounding.

Responsibilities

• Build payroll and bill pay from the ground up.
• Build ledgers, embedded accounts and accounting syncs.
• Set standards for idempotency, retries and reconciliation.
• Find root causes when numbers don’t match and fix them.
