Job summary

Mozilla is seeking a backend-focused engineer to lead server-side development and own deployment, operations, and production health. You will collaborate with CloudEng to maintain production environments using OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Prometheus, and Grafana, and participate in on-call rotations.

You will work with frontend and cross-functional teams on API design and data contracts, and contribute to security/privacy reviews and code reviews as part of a rigorous ownership culture.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong experience with Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Rust.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization.
• Hands-on DevOps on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with Docker-based pipelines.
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools like Sentry and Grafana.
• Strong engineering judgment and ownership mindset.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend development, building and maintaining server-side logic.
• Take ownership of services, including deployment, operation, and production health.
• Collaborate with CloudEng to maintain prod environments using OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Participate in on-call and off-hours support rotations.
• Partner with frontend and cross-functional teams on API design and data contracts.
• Participate in code reviews and security/privacy reviews.
