Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an experienced backend engineer to own services that move institutional clients from application to first trade.

You will drive onboarding automation, implement an Organizations Service for client data, and collaborate across Product, Compliance, and Onboarding Ops to ship new products with robust access controls. You'll mentor engineers, contribute to high-quality, well-tested code, and navigate regulatory domains such as identity and KYC/AML.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production backend services.
• Production experience with Go, gRPC/Protobuf, relational data stores, and observability tooling.
• Proven ability to write well-tested, production-grade code with high test coverage.
• Comfort working in regulated, high-integrity domains (identity, access control, KYC/AML, onboarding).
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services moving institutional clients from application to first trade.
• Drive onboarding automation including automated screening, risk scoring, and auto-provisioning.
• Lead design and implementation of Organizations Service as source of truth for client data.
• Partner with Product, Compliance, Onboarding Ops, Identity, and Prime teams to ship onboarding and access controls.
• Shape the access-control stack (roles, permissions, policies) for Prime.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through design reviews and incident response.
