Job summary

Cincinnatus LLC is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-scale consumer platform team building services used by millions. You'll work on Node.js, TypeScript, and Rust across the full software lifecycle, with REST and GraphQL APIs and opportunities to integrate AI into production systems.

The role is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position placed within a leading enterprise client’s engineering organization.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
• Hands-on production coding in Node.js and TypeScript on backend.
• Hands-on Rust production experience in services or performance-critical modules.
• Strong web fundamentals including HTTP, cookies, caching, sessions, and service-to-service auth.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of scoped features with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and maintain high-quality services in Node.js, TypeScript, and Rust.
• Build and optimize REST and GraphQL APIs for high-traffic apps.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into product services.
• Contribute to solution design, code reviews, and best practices for scalable, secure systems.
• Monitor performance, resolve defects, and drive improvements.
• Mentor peers and share knowledge across the team.
