Job summary

M-KOPA Mobility is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to build and scale event-driven microservices powering electric mobility across Africa. You’ll own services end-to-end within a DevOps culture, leveraging AI coding tools like Claude Code to accelerate development.

The role emphasizes C#/.NET, cloud platforms, containers, observability, and rapid delivery in a fast-growing organization committed to financial inclusion and environmental impact.

Qualifications

• Strong grasp of C#/.NET development.
• Experience with event-driven systems (Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Microservices architecture experience.
• Experience with Azure or other cloud providers (AWS/GCP).
• Familiarity with containerisation/orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Testing and deployment expertise; CI/CD practices.
• DevOps culture mindset.
• Experience with AI coding tools ( Claude Code or similar).

Responsibilities

• Scale challenges as M-KOPA Mobility grows 3x year-on-year with a fast-scaling business.
• Build services that enable clean transport access for riders and entrepreneurs.
• Contribute to a globally recognized company and environmental impact initiatives.
• Collaborate across teams to own the full software stack from inception to production.
