Senior Software Engineer – Messaging & Agentic APIs will design, build, and scale backend services for email and messaging, contribute to migrating a PHP monolith to Node.js/TypeScript microservices, and craft secure, scalable APIs for AI agents and external integrations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, owning complex systems from design to deployment.
• Strong backend with Node.js and TypeScript, plus ability to build frontend using React/TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of PHP with ability to maintain and modernize legacy codebase.
• Experience modernizing monoliths into microservices/serverless architectures.
• Experience designing REST/GraphQL APIs and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable backend services for messaging and email capabilities.
• Migrate PHP monolith features into Node.js/TypeScript microservices.
• Define service boundaries, APIs, data ownership, and migration strategies.
• Design agent-ready APIs for AI agents and external integrations.
• Build secure integrations with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and other providers.
• Develop email/messaging automation, sender identities, and campaign workflows.
• Create robust APIs, queues, and event-driven workflows with retries and error handling.
• Improve testing, observability, and reliability across legacy and new services.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, DevOps, and Architects.
