You will own service direction, drive design docs, and collaborate across product, science, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure backend systems. You will participate in code reviews, optimize performance, and contribute to runbooks and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of one or more services in the Stream Management portfolio; write the design docs, socialize them across IVS and adjacent teams, and drive them to implementation.
• Work closely with engineers, product managers, and applied scientists to deliver seamless customer experiences.
• Ensure backend systems are highly available, scalable, and secure at AWS scale.
• Apply backend best practices including testing, performance optimization, observability, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with other AWS service teams to integrate shared services and deliver consistent AWS service experiences.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, design reviews, and on-call rotations.
• Drive operational excellence through automation, metrics, alarms, and runbooks.
• Lead post-incident investigations for high-severity events in our services; drive the resulting action items to completion.
