Job summary

The Swift Group, headquartered in Reston, VA, seeks an experienced Backend Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to design and maintain scalable backend services and data platforms using Java/Spring Boot.

You will build RESTful APIs, model relational data, implement security, and drive tests, CI/CD, and cloud deployments in AWS. A TS/SCI with Polygraph and US citizenship are required for this role.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience accepted
• 10+ years of backend software development experience
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate
• Strong data modeling and relational database design skills
• Experience with Oracle RDS, RESTful APIs, and API security
• Experience with unit/integration testing and CI/CD tools
• Familiarity with Linux, Tomcat, Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, Swagger, and AWS

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot
• Model relational data via ERDs and optimize schemas on Oracle RDS
• Architect and secure RESTful endpoints; document APIs with Swagger
• Write unit and integration tests; maintain code quality and coverage
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Deploy and operate backend services in AWS with cost-conscious security considerations
• Collaborate with frontend, data, and platform teams to align architecture
• Document backend architectures, data models, and API contracts for scalability
