JPMorganChase is seeking a Software Engineer III for its Commercial & Investment Bank Digital & Platform Services team in Palo Alto. The role focuses on designing and delivering trusted, scalable technology products in a secure environment, with duties spanning backend services, APIs, cloud deployment, and secure coding practices.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
• Strong backend experience with design, development, testing, and operational stability.
• Hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience (REST, DI, testing, performance).
• Experience designing APIs and OpenAPI contracts.
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) and cloud-native practices.
• Hands-on Docker/containerization and deployment best practices.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven patterns.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and secure coding practices.
• Understanding of responsible AI use and SDLC/agile practices.

Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end software solutions with scalable, secure design.
• Create secure production code and reliable services integrated with dependencies.
• Build backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Define API contracts with OpenAPI, ensure backward compatibility.
• Leverage AI-assisted coding tools while validating outputs through reviews and tests.
• Improve delivery through CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness.
• Produce architecture artifacts and ensure design constraints in code.
• Build and maintain event-driven and streaming integrations with Kafka.
• Use SQL and scripting for development and operational analysis.
• Deploy and operate services in cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Use Docker and orchestration patterns for consistent environments.
