Job summary

THEWHITEAM Consulting is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a fully remote role focused on modern backend development and distributed architectures. You will design scalable backend solutions using Java, build microservices, and apply Hexagonal Architecture while ensuring observability and reliable delivery.

The role requires extensive experience with messaging systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ), cloud platforms, relational and NoSQL databases, and containerized deployments (Docker).

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in backend development.
• Strong professional experience with Java, including modern Java versions such as Java 25.
• Proven experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
• Strong understanding of Hexagonal Architecture (Ports & Adapters).
• Experience with messaging and queueing systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of Docker and containerized environments.
• Experience with logging, monitoring and observability tools, including Grafana.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and software delivery practices.
• Good knowledge of software design principles, testing and development best practices.
• Spanish: Fluent.
• English: Advanced level (C1), both written and spoken.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands‑on experience with Java, strong knowledge of microservices and Hexagonal Architecture, and practical experience with messaging systems, cloud platforms, databases and containerized environments.

Technical Assessment

The recruitment process includes a technical pre-check to assess the candidate's technical experience and suitability for the role.

• Working hours: 09:00 - 18:00.




• Estimated project duration: 7 months.




• Experience: 8+ years.




• Salary: €40,000 - €43,000 gross annual salary.
