Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the backend systems behind user identity and privacy. You will design services and APIs enforcing context-scoped access and work on migrations that move away from legacy identity patterns at Airbnb’s scale.

You’ll collaborate with teams across the company—messaging, trips, profile—and contribute to the design and reviews to raise the bar for correctness in a high-impact codebase.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in service-oriented architecture, API design, and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and APIs that enforce identity and privacy rules consistently across the product surfaces.
• Contribute to large-scale migrations, including tooling to make migrations safe to run broadly.
• Define and evolve authorization logic for context-scoped data access and edge cases.
• Partner with teams building on top of your systems to ensure privacy primitives are usable and not misused.
