Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Access & Authorization team within the Platform group. You will shape authentication and authorization capabilities that impact customers across Coinbase products and partner integrations.

You will build secure Go and gRPC services with strong observability, lead complex design initiatives, and collaborate with product, security, and infra teams to balance security with user experience and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing secure APIs and handling authentication/authorization, session management, token handling.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and operation of authentication, OAuth, sessions, tokens, 2FA, and edge authorization.
• Build secure Go and gRPC services used across Coinbase platforms with observability and reliable SLAs.
• Lead technical designs for complex initiatives like signed tokens, passkeys, and device-aware authentication.
• Collaborate with product, security, fraud, and infra teams to balance user experience with security and regulatory requirements.
• Build self-service tooling to enable product teams to adopt access capabilities safely at scale.
• Mentor engineers via design reviews, pairing, code reviews, and on-call participation.
