You will shape systems that securely control how customers access Coinbase, building distributed services at the intersection of security, identity, and developer infrastructure. You will design authentication and authorization capabilities, own end-to-end implementation of OAuth flows, tokens, 2FA, and edge authorization, and mentor peers while collaborating with product, security, and infra teams to

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with Go.
• Experience designing secure APIs and authentication/authorization.
• Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and data stores such as Redis or DynamoDB.
• Track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects with clear communication.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and operation of auth capabilities (OAuth, 2FA, tokens).
• Build secure, low-latency Go/gRPC services across Coinbase platforms.
• Lead designs for signed tokens, passkeys, biometric recovery, device-aware authentication.
• Partner with product, security, fraud, and infra teams on trade-offs.
• Create self-service tooling for safe adoption at scale.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and on-call participation.
