Job summary

LangChain, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build the backend systems powering LangSmith's observability and evals platform at scale.

You will work on core services that help developers monitor and evaluate their AI applications, with a focus on backend feature development and collaboration with frontend and product teams. The role requires 5+ years in backend engineering, proficiency in Python or Go, and strong API/data service knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience on complex products.
• Proficiency in Python or Go.
• Strong API design and reliable data services.
• Experience with high-throughput or mission-critical systems.
• Experience with Postgres, Redis, Clickhouse and cloud platforms AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Excellent cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate on architectural decisions for performance and maintainability.
• Optimize storage and query performance for high-volume observability data.
• Ensure system reliability through testing, monitoring, and alerting practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, performing root-cause analysis.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system design and API references.
• Work closely with full-stack engineers, product managers, and product designers on rolling out new features.
