Altruist in San Francisco is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale robust backend systems with Java, Spring Boot, and Postgres. You will collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to solve hard problems and deliver services used across product teams.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years building scalable backend services in fintech or SaaS, strong SQL (Postgres/MySQL), and proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building scalable backend services in fintech, SaaS, or B2B environments.
• Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
• Expertise in microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong SQL knowledge (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Solid understanding of secure, performant systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale RESTful backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Postgres.
• Implement architectures for distributed, resilient systems in AWS and Kubernetes.
• Mentor teams on secure coding practices and code quality.
• Apply automated testing to ensure high-quality, reliable software.
