Job summary

Deepgram is seeking a backend software engineer to lead design and implementation of scalable services for real-time speech processing. You will develop secure, robust backend components in Rust (or C/C++) with Python glue, focusing on low latency and high availability.

You will optimize networking, scheduling, and resource usage, collaborate with Product and Engineering, and ship end-to-end features that power our real-time STT and AI offerings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in an industry role.
• Programming experience in Rust (or C, C++), with competence in Python.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal.
• A high level of experience and understanding of version control; preferably git.
• Comprehensive experience with UNIX‑style systems.

Responsibilities

• Improve backend inference services, focusing on networking, speech processing, and latency optimization.
• Develop processes for measuring, building, and optimizing services to maximize system performance.
• Debug complex system issues involving networking, scheduling, and high performance computing interactions.
• Rapidly customize backend services to support customer needs.
• Partner with Product to design and implement new services end to end.
