Job summary

Cisco in San Jose is seeking a senior backend engineer to lead technical strategy across cloud and on-prem deployments. You will own the architecture of backend services, optimize data-processing workflows, and drive scalable solutions with strong emphasis on security and reliability.

Collaborate with Product Management, UX, and customers to resolve complex production issues, mentor engineers, and guide architecture reviews to advance platform evolution and customer value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience.
• Master's degree with 4+ years.
• 4+ years of distributed systems and databases experience.
• 3+ years of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 4+ years of Python, Go/Golang AND SQL experience.
• 2+ years with AI tools (such as Claude/Codex).

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy and execution for multiple teams and backend/platform product areas across cloud and on-prem deployments.
• Own the technical roadmap and architectural integrity of backend services and data-processing workflows.
• Partner with Product Management, UX, Architects, multi-functional teams, and customers to resolve production issues and deliver solutions.
• Mentor engineers, lead design sessions and architecture reviews to advance platform evolution.
