Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. in San Jose is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own backend/platform features across cloud and on‑prem deployments. You will apply data structures, algorithms and system design to deliver scalable, secure, observable services.

You will collaborate with Product, UX, Architects and customers, mentor engineers, and drive CI/CD practices, architecture standards, and incident response while designing reliable distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 12+ years of software development or a Master's with 8+ years of related experience.
• Strong data structures, algorithms and system design to own end-to-end features.
• Expertise in Python, Java, C/C++ and backend development.
• Experience with cloud and on-prem deployments, Agile/DevOps and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GitLab).
• Knowledge of security analytics platforms and secure design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy and execution for multiple teams and backend/platform areas across cloud and on‑prem deployments.
• Own the technical roadmap and architectural integrity of backend services and data-processing workflows.
• Collaborate with Product Management, UX and customers to resolve complex production issues and deliver secure solutions.
• Mentor engineers, lead design sessions and architecture reviews, and advance platform evolution.
