Job summary

Postman, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build core systems powering Postman’s internal platform. You’ll design and extend backend services in Java, leverage Spring Boot and Hibernate, and scale deployments across Kubernetes clusters.

You will implement GitOps workflows with ArgoCD, integrate Istio and Terraform, and uphold best practices like CI/CD, testing, and documentation. The role emphasizes security, reliability, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate (JPA).

The Opportunity

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Cloud Platform team, you will play a key role in building the core systems and services that power Postman’s internal platform. You’ll help create new backend services that manage how we deploy, scale, and operate our infrastructure and product services, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate (JPA) on top of cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Istio, and Terraform. This role is highly impactful: the systems you build will be used across Postman engineering, enabling faster delivery, better scalability, and a stronger developer experience. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to open source, shaping tools that extend beyond Postman’s boundaries.

What Else?

The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $210,000 to $240,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.

We are in office 5 days a week for all roles based out of our hubs in San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Austin, New York City, Tokyo and London. For roles based in Bangalore, employees currently work in the office three days a week and will transition to five days per week by the end of the year.
