Job summary

Postman is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop, and maintain our API platform. You will collaborate across teams to define features, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor others to uphold best practices in software development.

Required are 5+ years in software development and proficiency in TypeScript, plus additional languages such as Java, Python, or Go. This in-office role emphasizes collaboration and technical excellence.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain software using modern languages.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.


• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across various programming languages and technologies.


• Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand their needs, and provide technical support when required.


• Mentor and guide other engineers, promoting best practices in software development.


• Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality code and maintainable systems.


• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into our products where applicable.


• Contribute to the overall architecture and technical strategy of the company.

About You

• 5+ years of experience in software development, preferably in a startup environment.


• Proficient in Typescript, and/or Python, Java, Go, C#, or PHP


• Strong technical skills and experience working with developer tools and APIs.


• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including TypeScript.


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Nice To Have

• Deep technical expertise in SDKs and Docs.


• Experience creating technical content, such as documentation and tutorials.


• Experience working in a distributed organization, and ability to collaborate with teams in different time zones and cultures.

The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $190,000 to $212,500 plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.

At Postman we value in person collaboration. We are in office 5 days a week for all roles based out of our hubs in San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Austin, New York City, Tokyo and London. For roles based in Bangalore, employees currently work in the office three days a week and will transition to five days per week by the end of the year. We were thoughtful in our approach which is based on collaboration and grounded in feedback from our workforce, leadership team, and peers. The benefits of our in office model will be shared knowledge, brainstorming sessions, communication, and building trust in-person that cannot be replicated via zoom.
