Job summary

Quilter is seeking a Senior / Staff Backend Engineer to join the File I/O Team. You will design and maintain bridges between Quilter and leading PCB CAD vendors, enabling engineers to move seamlessly between Quilter and CAD environments.

As a senior team member, you will shape technical direction, mentor others, and own high-impact projects end-to-end. You will work primarily in Python, with opportunities to interact with ECAD tools, reverse-engineer formats, and scale our internal PCB

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with backend or systems work
• Expert Python proficiency with production-grade code quality
• Moderate hands-on exposure to at least one ECAD tool (Altium, KiCad, OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, Siemens/Mentor Xpedition, or Eagle)
• Interest in building agent-powered workflows and solving complex integration challenges
• Strong communication, technical leadership, and ownership in a fast-moving startup environment

Responsibilities

• Architect and extend integrations with CAD vendors’ file formats and scripting systems.
• Lead reverse-engineering of proprietary binary/text formats and mentor engineers in undocumented territory.
• Drive evolution of Quilter’s PCB representation and expand ECAD ecosystem support.
• Write robust, well-tested code that handles real-world customer data and establish testing standards across the team.
• Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing and rollout with strong architectural judgment.
