Scribe is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Adopt Engineering Team, responsible for core document workflows, embeddings, exports, and key integrations. You’ll own impactful projects, from feature evolution to building new systems, and collaborate across the stack to deliver robust experiences.

You’ll optimize database queries and endpoints, improve performance, and champion automated testing and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building backend applications at high scale and availability.
• Strong Python expertise.
• Experience optimizing endpoints and database queries.
• Advocate for automated testing and strong engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend features in Django monolith across core workflows.
• Improve performance and reliability by optimizing queries and caching.
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend to deliver scalable experiences.
• Contribute to technical discussions, planning, and architectural evolution.
• Uphold code quality with reviews, tests, and observability focus.
