Job summary

LaunchDarkly is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for the Billing team to own systems translating plans, pricing, entitlements, and usage into revenue via APIs. You will help decompose a monolith into scalable services, ensuring correctness across usage metering, reconciliation, invoicing, and customer data.

We value deep backend judgment, experience with Go, TypeScript, Postgres, AWS, and Terraform. You will own production responsibilities, including on-call, and contribute to a fast, reliable

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software-engineering experience on complex backend applications.
• Experience decomposing a monolith into services.
• Track record of working in systems where correctness is non-negotiable (idempotency, reconciliation, reversible migrations, safe cutovers).
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Go/Rust/Python, etc.) and familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent), plus strong production ownership including on-call.

Responsibilities

• Design and build systems defining plans, pricing, entitlements, and limits, exposed via API.
• Decompose billing from monolith into correct, testable, independently deployable services.
• Own end-to-end correctness—usage metering, reconciliation, invoices, and customer data.
• Operate what you build: SLOs, alerting, on-call, and root cause analysis.
