Re:Build is building an AI-powered platform for hardware development. We seek a hands-on backend engineer to design REST APIs, build ingestion pipelines, and orchestrate ambient AI agents alongside our AI researchers and product team.

You will code daily in Python using FastAPI and PostgreSQL, deploy on GCP, and contribute to scalable backend architecture. This remote-first role offers competitive salary and equity with preference for candidates near Boston.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production backend systems
• 3+ years in Python
• Proficiency with AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude)
• Strong experience with FastAPI or similar async Python frameworks
• Production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and migrations
• Hands-on experience with task queues and background processing (Celery, Redis)
• Understanding of API design, authentication (OIDC/JWT) and service architecture
• Experience with containerized deployments (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to balance rapid iteration with maintainable, well-tested code

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing RESTful APIs with OpenAPI specs and auto-generated client SDKs using SQLAlchemy and Postgres
• Developing ingestion pipelines using Celery and Redis to extract structured engineering artifacts
• Building agentic AI workflows using LangChain/LangGraph for data extraction and coordination
• Integrating LLM APIs with streaming (SSE) and cost optimization
• Deploying and operating services on GCP with Terraform
• Writing well-tested, maintainable code and participating in code reviews
