Job summary

Expedia Group is hiring a Software Development Engineer III to build thoughtful advertiser-facing experiences and backend services powering the advertising marketplace. You’ll work at the intersection of user experience, scalable distributed systems, and generative AI.

The role focuses on backend APIs, campaign optimization, and AI-assisted workflows, with collaboration across product, UX, data science, and other engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend software development or 3+ years with a master's degree
• Experience with cloud-based/distributed systems at scale
• Proficiency in Java/J2EE, C#, and integrating with relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile development environments
• Cloud design/deployment on AWS/Azure/GCP

Responsibilities

• Implement backend APIs and services powering high-quality UI experiences
• Build and optimize services for campaign management and optimization
• Improve reliability, scalability, and latency of critical systems
• Use AI/LLMs to simplify advertiser workflows and automation
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers on recommendations
• Partner with product, design, and other eng teams to deliver value
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to improve developer productivity
• Champion high-quality code, testing, and observability
• Participate in operational reviews and continuous improvement
• Mentor junior engineers and raise technical standards
