Job summary

Arena Intelligence is looking for a backend engineer to build the products and platforms that sit on top of our evaluation systems—the APIs, services, and data systems that turn Arena’s evals into enterprise-ready products.

This is the application layer of the Arena Service, where you’ll collaborate with infrastructure, researchers, and product leadership to build backends that customers touch directly, including APIs that expose Arena and enterprise data and the systems that manage usage,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience building product-facing APIs and data systems.
• Proficiency in a modern backend language — Go preferred — with API design for durability and scale.
• Solid data fundamentals; comfortable modeling and querying PostgreSQL; experience with Redis.
• Experience turning eval methods into durable products and analytics into APIs.
• A product-oriented mindset focused on developer experience and long-term usability.
• Able to work in a startup environment with fluid scope.

Responsibilities

• Build API-based products from the ground up, shipping low-latency, reliable APIs and services for Leaderboards, Evals, and Arena data products.
• Turn evaluations into product by partnering with research to create durable scoring pipelines and data models.
• Ship enterprise-grade backends with usage metering, billing integration, authentication, and multi-tenancy.
• Own the data architecture to unify public and private evaluation data and ensure fast, consistent queries.
• Flex across the stack to support both Leaderboards and Evals backends and unify data architectures.
