Job summary

Epsilon Health is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the core data infrastructure powering our medical imaging platform in San Francisco. You’ll shape ingestion, data warehouse, and a distributed inference system, working across the backend stack with the ML team to ensure reliable end-to-end experiences from data to model output.

You’ll lead architectural decisions, own production quality, and help establish lean engineering practices on a fast-moving team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building data infrastructure or distributed systems.
• 2+ years leading large-scale projects or teams.
• Proficiency in a backend language (Go, Python, Java, or similar).
• Experience with large-scale AWS-based production systems.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to balance performance, cost, security, and maintainability.
• Proven track record leading multi-quarter initiatives across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate infrastructure that deliver reliable end-to-end experiences from data ingestion through model output.
• Design and implement robust data pipelines and warehouses to collect, process, and store large-scale multimodal medical imaging data from production traffic and offline sources.
• Build CI/CD and deployment automation that lets a lean team ship quickly and safely.
• Ensure systems handling PHI are HIPAA-compliant by design, with encryption, access controls, audit logging, and secure data handling throughout.
• Build model inference pipelines for live and offline traffic, and support ML infrastructure alongside the ML team as needs arise.
• Leading technical design, driving quality through design reviews and testing, and helping set engineering best practices on a lean team.
