Job summary

NegotiateAI, a Menlo Ventures-backed startup, seeks an engineer to join early and own meaningful pieces of our AI-powered procurement platform. You’ll build the systems that power the product end to end and work directly with the founder and early customers to decide what to build next.

This hands-on role includes technical leadership without direct reports, with impact across backend services, data pipelines, and secure, private AI workflows, all aimed at shipping quickly with real-world data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Hands-on with LLMs in production.
• Experience with messy real-world data.
• Cloud infrastructure and production practices.
• Strong product sense and customer empathy.

Responsibilities

• Build and own core backend services with ERP integrations.
• Develop agentic systems for data categorization and sourcing benchmarks.
• Ship features for real-time spend visibility and benchmarking.
• Evaluate AI systems for accuracy and monitor regressions.
• Define architectural direction and mentor junior engineers.
• Apply security and data privacy practices.
