Job summary

Pragmatike is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus to join a YC-backed AI technology start-up. You will own complex systems from architecture through production, partnering with founders and product teams to build the platform powering next-generation AI products.

You’ll design scalable backend services, ship full-stack features, and contribute to long-term tech strategy in a fast-paced, onsite San Francisco environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Advanced proficiency with TypeScript and modern backend development practices.
• Experience building scalable APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
• Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, and system architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs powering core product functionality.
• Develop and ship full-stack features from backend services through to customer-facing interfaces.
• Build reliable infrastructure that supports high-performance, real-time applications.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to define and deliver new capabilities.
• Design systems that scale efficiently as product usage and complexity grow.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, monitoring, and operational tooling.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy.
• Optimize performance, security, and developer experience across the platform.
• Help establish engineering best practices and contribute to a strong culture of technical excellence.
